City Chef of the Year 2008 - Scottish Chef Awards
Early ambitions to own his own top flight restaurant have been achieved with recent notable success, when Jason’s culinary and management skills were rewarded with Gold in a new award scheme for the city’s restaurants, inaugurated by the Edinburgh Restaurateurs’ Association.
The new ratings which allow diners to assess their venue, service and food using a points system, voted Jason joint winner in the Fine Dining category. Presented with his certificate by the Lord Provost, Jason said: "What matters most is to be valued by the diners."
Following college training for his formal chef’s qualifications, Jason’s experience has been gained in restaurants and hotels throughout the UK, Spain and Bermuda. His return to his partner Jane’s birthplace saw him working previously at the Bonham Hotel and Martins Restaurant, before this latest, most successful venture.
Jane’s career as a spa therapist dramatically changed to accompany Jasons dream to own and run a restaurant.
Jane has studied wine through WISET courses, has ongoing wine training and attends many tastings. She enjoys the challenges of running a busy restaurant and on top of this still manages to find time to run after their two small boys.
